President announces major breakthrough

President Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament that he received the financial assurance letter from the Exim Bank of China last night and he and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka signed the letter and sent it to the IMF.

The President said that he completed his obligation to the country and anticipates that the International Monetary Fund will fulfil its responsibility before the end of this month.
