SLFP removes Dayasiri from party membership

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara's party membership has been suspended subject to the approval of the SLFP politburo.

The decision was taken by the politburo which met yesterday at former President Maithripala Sirisena's residence.

The letter sent by the chairman of the SLFP suspending Dayasiri Jayasekera's party membership stated that a disciplinary inquiry will also be held against him according to the party constitution.

The letter also stated that a charge sheet will be sent within 14 days.

Meanwhile, Sarath Ekanayake has been appointed as Acting General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Meanwhile, MP Jayasekera said that he had always been loyal to the party and have only demanded the party make a collective decision in the interest of the people.
