MP Wimalaweera Dissayanake said that unfortunate incidents reported from the health sector have been politicized for mileage, to prevent the public from visiting hospitals for treatment.

"Late singer Mohideen Baig died after a vaccine was administered to him for a surgery. My brother-in-law died of after a vaccine was administered to him. But these kinds of incidents are now being politicized," he said.

MP Dissayanake said the government is giving him medicines worth Rs. 250,000 for free every month, without which he would have died. "I can't purchase medicines worth Rs. 250,000," he said.

"My own sister died at a hospital, but I cannot ask people to not go to hospitals out of spite," the MP said.
