Munchee emerges ‘Best Employer Brand’ at CMO Awards

Munchee, the flagship brand of the Sri Lankan confectionery powerhouse, Ceylon Biscuits Limited was awarded the prestigious title, the ‘Best Employer Brand’ for the second consecutive year at the recently concluded (CMO) Chief Marketing Officer Council Asia Awards in Singapore. 
 
The award was in recognition of Munchee’s excellence as a preferred employer and its continuous commitment towards producing future leaders through human resource development and innovation.      


 
Munchee is the largest biscuit manufacturing brand in Sri Lanka with a leading share of around 60 percent in the domestic biscuit market. The brand, renowned for its high quality standards, innovation and the strong distributor network is a many time winner of coveted awards including the National Quality Award 2005, Product Brand of the Year for 4 consecutive years, Brand of the Year for two consecutive years, and the National Award for Exports and Brand Leadership. 
 
Munchee’s presence spans over 45 countries across the globe. Its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities which contribute to the uplifting of education, sports, art and culture and rural infrastructure development in the country have always remained an integral part and corporate value of the brand. 
 
Commenting on the achievement at the CMO Awards, Theja Peiris – General Manager, Marketing (Munchee Brand) said that the biggest strength of the company was its employees. She also said that the company would continue to be committed to deliver high quality, nutritious and tasty products to consumers.
 
At the CMO Awards, she also secured the ‘2012 Woman Super Achiever’ award for Munchee. The award was in recognition of her commitment and the role she played in the Munchee brand’s journey to the position of market leader. Peiris began her career at Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. as a management trainee in 2002 and rose to the ranks of Brand Manager, Senior Brand Manager and to her current position of General Manager. 
 
Held for the third consecutive year, this year’s CMO awards saw the participation of over 200 corporate leaders and guests from over 25 countries and the nomination of several top brands and corporates in Asia.
