Although many Sri Lankans have not-so-fond memories about the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) due to scandals surround it, a book has been written by a member in the Steering Committee of IIFA outlining how the event rolled out.

It was recently reported that some of the city hotels which provided accommodation to Indian film stars have resorted to legal means to obtain the moneys Sri Lanka Tourism owes them.

Through the book which has been titled ‘The other side of IIFA”, the then Managing Director of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), Dileep Mudadeniya outlines how the entire event evolved to be one of the biggest events in the country.
Apart from the operational obstacles the organizers faced, the book also discusses how the pro-LTTE segments blocked the attendance of Indian film stars to the event.

The author also notes that without understanding the total political context which the entire vent was executed, there is an attempt to reprimand those who made this happen and it effects the entire development of the country.

The book has 8 chapters which include What Is IIFA, How IIFA came to Sri Lanka, Practical Difficulties And Obstacles, Feedback, Analysis of Media Value and Return On Investment, In Case If You See Real IIFA, From This Point Onwards and Nation Branding through Events. The book can be obtained from Nidahas publications No 151, Nawala Road Nugegoda.
