Launched by the international division of the bank, the unit aims to provide maximum convenience to BOC customers, who work and live overseas. In addition, the unit will also help to bolster inward foreign remittances, especially at this time of national need.

Sharing his thoughts on the launch, BOC Deputy General Manager International Treasury and Investment R.M.N. Jeewantha said, “In the current climate, Sri Lanka is in dire need of foreign remittances and ensuring a steady flow in remittances has become a priority task. Taking into the account the great service that the Sri Lankans working and living overseas have performed in remitting funds through the proper channels, we took steps to launch the international customer service support unit as part of the commemoration of the bank’s 83rd year of operation. The main goal of the unit is to ensure the highest in convenience to our customers, irrespective of their country of domicile.”

While the agents representing the new unit will engage with customers in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other countries to ensure they are able to quickly and conveniently access services in Sri Lanka, customers are able to avail of services such as instant account opening, obtaining ATM and other cards as well as loans and online banking services and a host of other convenience-led products and services.

“As ‘bankers to the nation’, BOC continues to focus its efforts on improving and enhancing its services to the migrant population. The international customer service support unit is the next step in this endeavour and we aim to deliver the highest level of service through the unit. I take this opportunity to invite all expatriate Sri Lankans to experience the superior level of service offered by the new unit,” stated BOC Assistant General Manager International Ranjith Ruwanpathirana.
