Kasturi C. Wilson appointed to National Development Bank board

Kasturi C. Wilson has been appointed to the board of National Development Bank PLC (NDB) as an Independent Non-Executive Director.


She is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of Hemas Holdings PLC. 


Kasturi commenced her career in 1988 as an audit trainee.  She joined Hemas in 2002, where she held many senior management positions, including Chief Process Officer and Managing Director of the Hemas Transportation Sector. 


In 2016, Kasturi took over as Managing Director of Hemas Pharmaceuticals, Surgicals and Diagnostics, where she was responsible for driving the company’s local and regional expansion. She also functioned as the Managing Director of Hemas Mobility Sector prior to being appointed as Group CEO in October 2020. 


Kasturi is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and is an alumni of the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. 


She serves on the Board of Capital Alliance Limited as a Non-Executive Director, along with several other Hemas subsidiaries in the healthcare and consumer sectors. 


Kasturi is an active member of several industry associations and currently serves on the main Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and in Aprill 2022 she was appointed as the Regional Champion for the World Bank for South Asia. 


She is also the immediate past President of the Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry and has also served as a Council Member of the National Sports Council of Sri Lanka till March 2022 and has served on the Board of SLID (Sri Lanka Institute of Directors), CIMA Sri Lanka and Board of the Lankan Angels Network (LAN) – a leading start up eco-system in Sri Lanka. 


She was recognised as one of the 12 Top Women Change-Makers in the country in 2019 by the Parliament of Sri Lanka and was also recognised as one of the 10 ‘Wise Women’ impactful leaders of Sri Lanka by the Ministry of Skills and Vocational Education in 2022. Kasturi represented Sri Lanka as a member of the National Netball and Basketball teams.


With the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of NDB comprises Chairman Sriyan Cooray, CEO Dimantha Seneviratne, N.S.S. Cooray, Bernard Sinniah, Sujeewa Mudalige, Hiran Perera, Kushan D’ Alwis, Fay Chetnakarnkul, K.V. Chandima Dilrukshi and K.C. Wilson.
