Research shows that banks with a diverse workforce tend to have a better understanding and reach of the women’s consumer market, translating to women’s higher financial inclusion. In this regard, the bank has made significant progress in positioning itself as both the ‘Bank of Choice’ and ‘Employer of Choice’ with a female workforce of up to 39 percent at the top management and 33 percent of overall staff. Further, seven out of the 18 top leadership positions are held by women in critical functions such as compliance, risk, legal, finance, etc. Meanwhile, NDB is also the first organisation in Sri Lanka to obtain EDGE Gender certification - the leading global standard for gender equality.
