10,000 Chinese cigarettes seized in raid in Kollupitiya

  • 59-year-old Chinese businessman arrested

 A stock of 10,000 Chinese cigarettes was seized by a team of Excise Officers from Sri Jayawardenapura Excise Station during a raid on a Chinese business establishment at Samagi Mawatha in Kollupitiya.  


 The 59-year-old Chinese businessman was arrested during the raid. The consignment of foreign cigarettes valued more than Rs.01 million and the suspect were to be handed over to the head office of the Excise Department for further action.   


 A team of Excise Officers under OIC Excise Station Nandana Perera, and Excise Inspector M.M. Mahawatta had carried out the raid on the instructions of Excise Superintendent P.N. Hemantha, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Jayantha Silva, and Commissioner General of Excise U.D.N.Jayaweera.
