13-year-old daughter lodges police complaint against father over rape

• Says that she was first raped in 2021

 A 13 -year- old girl who came alone on Sunday to the  Nochchiyagama Police lodged a complaint against her father, accusing him  of raping her, the police said.  According to the police, she had been living with her  mother, father and brother and that she was first raped in 2021 when she  was in Grade six in school. Since then, she had been raped at times  when she was alone in the house, according to the police.  The 34-year-old father was taken into custody accordingly. 

 Investigations revealed that when she could not tolerate  her father’s sexual harassment she had left home to live with her  grandmother, but the suspect had attempted to take her home by force  that compelled her to sneak out and make a complaint to the police.   

 The suspect was to be produced in court and the girl referred to hospital for medical examination.   
The Women and Children’s Bureau of Nochchiyagama Police are conducting further investigations.
