13-year-old girl who went for phone reload sexually abused by shopkeeper

A 13-year-old girl who called over at a cellular phone  showroom at Rambewa bazaar to reload her mobile phone to call her mother  employed abroad had been subjected to grave sexual abuse by the trader.     


The victim was a grade eight student in a school in  Mihintale area. She stated to police that on her way to a tuition class,  she stepped into the boutique to reload her mobile phone and that she  was taken into a store room and sexually abused.   


The 40-year-old suspect trader was taken into custody by the Mihintale Police.   He was to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate yesterday.  Women and Children’s Bureau is conducting further  investigations on the instructions of OIC -Mihintale Chief Inspector  Ranjith Chandrasiri.
