14-year-old girl complains against father

• The girl had walked more than 12 kms by herself to Galnewa police yesterday and made a complaint against her father

A 14-year-old girl had walked more than 12 kms by herself to Galnewa police yesterday and made a complaint against her father that she had been raped at times by him since the age of 10.  

The 35-year-old suspect father was a former soldier from Gampola area who had shifted with his family recently to Galnewa area.  

The suspect who had fled the area when police initiated investigations, was arrested by the police during a raid in Ipalogama area.  

The victim was referred to the JMO Anuradhapura hospital for medical examination.  

OIC Women and children’s Bureau IP Ananda is conducting further investigations on the instructions of OIC Galnewa Police IP M.M.R.C. Munasinghe.
