240 Indian poachers arrested

A group of 14 Indian poachers were arrested and a multi day trawler seized during a raid in the sea off Karainagar in Jaffna on Sunday night (17).   

They were brought to the naval base and handed over to the Myliddy Fisheries Inspector’s office for further action. 

  A senior official of the Sri Lanka navy said the navy had arrested 240 Indian poachers and seized 35 multi day trawlers during raids for 2023 and legal action taken against them.
