889 grams of heroin seized

• The trade value of the stock of heroin, as stated by the suspect was more than Rs. 30 million

A young man who had in his possession a stock of 889.29 grams of heroin was arrested by the police STF (Special Task Force) during a raid at Kitulkote in Thanamalwila yesterday.    

Investigations revealed that the suspect from Manipuragama in Ambalanthota had been carrying on the racket for long and that he was on his way to hand over it to a woman in the Thanamalwila area at the time of arrest.    A team of STF officials from the Udawalawa camp had tracked him on information from an informant and arrested the suspect.    OIC of the STF camp IP A.P.R. Alwis said the trade value of the stock of heroin, as stated by the suspect was more than Rs. 30 million. 

The suspect and the stock of heroin were handed over to Thanamalwila police for further action.   
STF team under OIC Alwis had carried out the raid on the instructions of ASP Sampath Kumara and SSP Viduranatha Dissanayake.
