A Nigerian sentenced to death for trafficking cocaine

A Nigerian was yesterday sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court after being found guilty for possessing and trafficking 249 grams of cocaine.  

The Nigerian had been arrested along with 249 grams of cocaine by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at a car park in Rajagiriya area in 2016. High Court Judge Namal Balalle observed that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

  
The Attorney General had filed indictments comprising two charges against the accused under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Act.
