A 28-year-old person residing in Samanala Watta in Balangoda has been missing since Tuesday (08) morning, bringing the total missing persons to two within a period of five days in the area, the Balangoda Police said.
According to the police, the wife had complained that her husband, had left the house saying he was going to the nearby tea estate in the morning on Tuesday.
As he did not return by 11 o’clock, the wife had gone in search of him to the tea estate and found one of the two sandals of the missing person and a fertilizer bag used to collect tea leaves.
The police said that although the police searched the area throughout the day on Tuesday, they couldn’t find any information about the missing person.
On May 3, a 45-year-old resident of Samanala Watta had also gone missing. Relatives had complained to the police that he had left the house following a phone call he received.
About five years ago, a nine-year-old school boy named Sahan Kumara Dharmasiri had also disappeared and the police say that no information about him has been received so far.
Residents of the area claimed that leopards often hang out in the Samanala Watta area and they also said that dogs, cats and small cows kept in homes often disappear.
