Accident at Kamburgamuwa level crossing kills one

One died when a car bumped against a moving train at Borolla road level crossing in Kamburugamuwa on the southern railway yesterday afternoon.   

The deceased Pubudu Priyankara (41) was the driver of the car and a resident of Denipitiya. 

 Police said the driver had attempted to pass the level crossing, taking a risk when the Kandy bound express from Matara was approaching.   

Investigations revealed that the signals and the alarm signal at the level crossing had been functioning at the time of the incident.    Matara Police are conducting further investigations.
