Action initiated against leader of General Students’ Union

Administration of Peradeniya University has initiated a formal investigation on the President of the General Students’ Union Chamod Sathsara’s suspected involvement in the alleged assault on former Vice Chancellor Prof. Atula Senaratne. 

Deputy Vice Chancellor and Media Spokesman Prof. Terrance Madujith said Prof. Senaratne had stated that the President of the Students’ Union was one of the suspects who was present at the scene of the incident.
He said disciplinary action would be taken against the student leader if he was found guilty.  

Meanwhile the walkout staged by the academic staff of the Arts faculty to protest against the incident was called off yesterday.
