Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga set the stage for another controversy as she said the Easter Sunday terrorist attack was something orchestrated to enable former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to come to power in 2019.  

She said then President Maithripala Sirisena should be held responsible for it. She also charged that the Rajapaksas were trying to gain control of Sri Lanka Freedom Party with the connivance of Mr. Sirisena.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said his party colleague Chandrika Kumaratunga is seeing things in the night and is imagining things.  
“ She is saying what she sees during the night. She is just imagining,” the former President said.   

“ Chandrika violated party discipline three years ago. We did not take action against her as she was the daughter of SLFP Founder Late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike ,” he added.   

“It is those who left the party who are engaged in conspiracies.” he said.
