Appointment of independent commission members Constitutional Council meeting summoned on Thursday

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has summoned the Constitutional Council on thursday March 9 to discuss the appointment of new members to the independent commissions.

It is also expected that new members for the Bribery Commission, Judicial Service Commission, Police Commission, Audit Commission, Public Service Commission and Human Rights Commission will be appointed on that day.

Sources close to the Speaker told Daily Mirror that the Constitutional Council will meet this week while Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera said the meeting has been fixed for Thursday.
