Attempted abduction of ex-girlfriend at gunpoint foiled

A young man, armed with two locally made guns and sharp  weapons, who attempted to abduct a young woman who had jilted him was  arrested by Walamulla police. The 22-year-old suspect young man was a  resident of Yapitakanda in Deniyaya.   


The 21-year-old young woman who had been in love with the  suspect for about a year had changed her mind recently and jilted him.     


The suspect young man had entered the girl’s house at Wattehengoda in Walasmulla by force in the early hours of last morning  and attempted to abduct her at gunpoint.   


Other occupants in the house had promptly informed the  Police Emergency Service 119, on information of which Walasmulla Police  rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect.   


Police said they had not received information on the suspect’s involvement in any previous criminal offence.   
He was to be produced before Walasmulla Magistrate last morning.
