Book Launch: The Life of Sir Ponnapalam Ramanathan

The biography of Sir Ponnapalam Ramanathan titled The Life of Sir Ponnampalam Ramanathan, written by M. Vythilingam, former President of Chavakachcheri Hindu College, will be launched ceremonially on Sunday, December 24 at 5 p.m. at the Sanagarapillai Hall, of the Colombo Tamil Sangam, Wellawatte.   
Organised by the Old Boys’ Association of the Jaffna Parameshvara College, the event will be chaired by former DIG (Traffics) T. Perimpanayagam, President of the Jaffna Parameshwara College OBA, Colombo Branch, while the Chief Guest will be D.M. Swaminathan, Trustee of the Sri Ponnapalavaneshvarar Temple, Colombo.   
Parameshvara College was one of the leading schools that was founded by Sir P. Ramanathan in 1921. The school premises were taken over by the government in 1974 to make way for the newly created University of Jaffna. 

P. Ramanathan, (1851-1930) held significant roles in the political landscape of colonial Ceylon during the late 19th and early 20th centuries including being the Unofficial Member (Tamil) in the Legislative Council of Ceylon from 1879 to 1892, and Solicitor-General of Ceylon from 1892 to 1906 among other roles.  All are welcome.
