The Bribery Commission has taken charge of six luxury vehicles fraudulently registered with the Department of Motor Traffic after being brought into the country without clearance by Sri Lanka Customs, a source said.

These vehicles have been taken over by the Commission from their current users. The government has lost tax revenue amounting to Rs. 100 million because of the unlawful act of bringing these six vehicles alone into the country.

The Commission has initiated investigations and those responsible will be brought to book, according to a top source. It is learnt that as many as 400 such unlawful vehicles have been registered with the Department.
