Bus fare will not increase: NTC

The National Transport Commission (NTC) yesterday announced that there would be no bus fare revision due to the increase in value-added tax (VAT).


A litre of Lanka Auto Diesel (Rs. 329) has been increased by Rs. 29, and its new retail price will be Rs. 358.
According to the increase in the retail price of a litre of Lanka Auto Diesel by Rs. 29, and according to the National Bus Fare Policy, the bus fare revision would have to be done by 2.01%, the NTC Chairman said.


Therefore, the NTC announced that they have decided not to increase the national bus fare at this time, he said.
The current bus fare rates were announced on September 3, 2024, according to the  Lanka Auto Diesel price, which was Rs. 341.
