Businessman arrested for jeering minister Bandula

An individual was arrested after he hooted at Minister Bandula Gunawardana when the latter came to lay a foundation stone for the proposed replica of Aukana Buddha statue at Pitipana junction in Homagama. 

He was produced before Homagama Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura and released on personal bail in Rs. 200,000.    The suspect Rajapakse Mudiyanselage Udagedara Chaminda Darshana (42) was a businessman of Pitipana North in Homagama. 

 
Police told court that the suspect who noticed the minister attending the ceremony protested against him by hooting and sped away by a lorry before the police gave chase and arrested him.   


He had been produced in court on suspicion of jeering the minister, disturbing a religious ceremony, and violating the right of worship.   
The case was postponed for August 24.
