While marking the discontinuation of the conventional practice of issuing printed paper bills, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is implementing the CEB e-billing system for their consumers in many areas, CEB media spokesman and Engineer Noel Priyantha said.
Accordingly, the e-billing system will be introduced to customers in the Dehiwala, Kelaniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, Matara and Ambalangoda areas.
The people in these areas will exclusively receive their electricity bills in a digital format, such as SMS or email.
“We also encourage our customers countrywide to promptly register for this convenient service, as the issuing of printed paper bills will gradually be suspended in the coming months,” Noel Priyantha added.
Consumers are requested to register via SMS through the following instructions: Type REG<space>followed by your A/C number, and send to 1987.
Those who are willing to register online are requested to visit http://ebill.ceb.lk and follow the instructions.
The CEB requests for the consumer’s attention and cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the e-billing system.
This e-billing system is expected to save approximately 100 million sheets of paper annually.
In light of this significant environmental impact, the CEB invites all its customers to join in embracing this digital transformation and taking advantage of CEB’s digital services ahead of the mandatory rollout.
