Cabinet nod to implement cost reflective electricity tariff from Jan.

Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy yesterday stated that cabinet approval has been granted to amend the general policy guidelines for the electricity industry and to implement a cost-reflective electricity tariff beginning from January 2023.    

Meanwhile, informed sources said yesterday that the proposal to amend the electricity tariff has been referred to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).  Sources also said that the tariff hike will be reviewed by a committee and would be implemented accordingly.
