Catholic Bishops yesterday urged all Christians to help the needy this Christmas. Catholic Bishop of Badulla Winston Fernando, Bishop of Galle Raymond Wickremesinghe, Bishop of Ratnapura Cletus Chandrasiri Perera, Bishop of Mannar Emmanuel Fernando, Bishop of Chilaw Valance Mendis and Bishop of Kurunegala Harold Anthony Perera urged the Catholics to share what they have with those who are hit by the economic crisis.
“ There is great opportunity for us to take the message of love which Christmas brings with the people who cannot afford their meals and children who cannot afford to buy their school books and stationery. Let us meet their needs this Christmas,” Bishop Harold Anthony said.
President’ of Catholic Bishops Conference in Sri Lanka Winston Fernando urged Catholics to maintain the sprit of Christmas beyond the festive Season and show love and compassion to everyone. “ Let us not confine the spirit of love only to the Christmas season and take it beyond that period,” Bishop Winston said.
Bishop Wickramasinghe urged Catholics to go in search of suffering and give them relief. “ Go to the cities ,villages and find those who cannot afford their basics and help them,” he said.
