Champika Ranawaka excluded from the Ways and Means Committee

  • Opposition yet to nominate its members for the Ways and  Means Committee

Opposition MP Patali Champika Ranawaka who was a member of the Public Finance Committee before the prorogation of Parliament has been  excluded from the committee this time.   

As per the usual procedure, the leader of the Opposition sends  in the nominees from the opposition parties to the Speaker and the  members are approved by the committee of selections. MP Nalaka Godahewa  is a new entry from the opposition for the finance committee as per the  names which were published yesterday.   


The Public Finance Committee (COPF ) comprises Shehan  Semasinghe, Dr. Seetha Arambepola, (Dr.) Suren Raghavan, Anupa  Pasqual, Johnston Fernando, Rauff Hakeem, Wajira Abeywardana, Vijitha  Herath, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Duminda Dissanayake, Chandima  Weerakkody, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Dr. Harsha de Silva, H. Nimal Lanza,  M. A. Sumanthiran, Dr. Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, Mayantha  Dissanayake, Harshana Rajakaruna, U. K. Sumith Udukumbura, Dr. Major  Pradeep Undugoda, Isuru Dodangoda, Premnath C. Dolawatte, Madhura  Withanage,  and Sahan Pradeep Withana.   
The opposition is yet to nominate its members for the Ways and  Means Committee. The ruling party nominees for the Ways and Means  committee include Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Anuradha Jayaratne, Sisira  Jayakody, Shasheendra Rajapaksa, W. D. J. Seneviratne, S. M. M.  Muszhaaraff, Sanjeeva Edirimanna and Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda.  


Members of Business (Party Leaders) committee include  Nimal Siripala de Silva, Attorney at Law, Mrs. Pavithradevi  Wanniarachchi, Douglas Devananda, Mahinda Amaraweera, M.U. M.
