Chennai airport shuts operations amid intense rain

Chennai airport on Monday announced that it has shut its operations till 11 pm ahead of Cyclone Michaung which is expected to make landfall, causing torrential rains.“Airfield closed for arrival and departure operations till 2300 hrs IST yesterday due to severe weather conditions,” said Chennai airport on social media platform X. 33 flights have been diverted from Chennai to Bengaluru at the airport due to heavy rain and strong wind since midnight.
