China’s support expected to further strengthen digital education: Minister

Following a special meeting with People’s Republic of China’s Education Minister, Huai Jinpeng, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that China’s support is expected to further strengthen digital education powered by education reforms.    

During the meeting, the progress of the educational reform measures and educational development programmes implemented in the education sector of Sri Lanka were discussed.   
Minister Premajayantha met the Chinese Education Minister after participating at the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris, France.   
Recently, President Ranil Wickremesinghe signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Huawei Institute for the digitization of education in Sri Lanka.   
Minister Premajayantha, who recalled with the Chinese Education Minister, said that the Huawei Institute is present as a strategic partner for the digitization of schools in Sri Lanka.   
The Minister further stated that the support provided by Huawei for the Republic of China to exchange technical advice and technical knowledge and to provide technical officer training and infrastructure is highly appreciated.
