The selection of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President of this country after the resignation of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is the right choice, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) national organizer and former minister Basil Rajapaksa said.

Every party and opposition group should be allowed to engage in politics freely. He pointed out that such an environment currently exists in the country, and all parties should be given the opportunity to do politics independently.

He said this while participating in a ceremony held this morning at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) media centre on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of its establishment.

He said he has been given the opportunity to do politics and the related activities freely, and it is expected that the economic and other problems would be solved in the future. Although there are opinions among some parties that the party is divided, the SLPP has never been divided, and although a few people have different opinions, the party is mainly with the people of the country.

He pointed out that former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was an ideal leader, and he would do politics according to the direction of that leader.

Rajapaksa said he is ready for any election as a political party and pointed out that the election is the will or choice of the people, and we will try as a party to win the will of the people.

The SLPP was able to win every election held in the past and expressed its gratitude, and the former minister respected the entire nation in this regard.
