Court calls for progress report on Hirunika and others

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered the Cinnamon Gardens Police to submit a progress report on thirteen suspects including National Organiser of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Women’s Wing former MP Hirunika Premachandra for allegedly committing a number of offences during a protest held at Independence Square.  

The Cinnamon Garden Police told court they were yet to conclude investigation into the incident for allegedly committing a number of offences during a protest held on November 14 at Independence Square in Colombo 7.  

The Cinnamon Gardens Police alleged that the suspects had organised a procession without prior permission and obstructing police officers from performing their duties while being members of an unlawful assembly.
