Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday revoked its previous order issued on two private insurance companies to suspend two local insurance policies belonging to late businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
While revoking its previous order, Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya observed that there are no materials to support that a third party is attempting to claim the beneficiary rights for the two policies.
On a previous occasion, the Court issued an order directing two private insurance companies to suspend two local insurance policies belonging to Dinesh Schaffter for a period of one week. This order was made in order to determine whether Schaffter had named a third party as the beneficiary of the two policies.
In its verdict of the inquest into the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter, Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has already ruled that the death appeared to be a crime and ordered the CID Director to immediately arrest the suspects involved in the incident and produce them before Courts.
