Customs seize Rs.212Mn worth Hashish sent from Italy

• Package had arrived through a courier service

A large quantity of the cannabis variety Hashish worth over Rs.212 million, which had been sent from Italy through a courier service, was seized by Sri Lanka Customs yesterday.

The Customs Revenue Task Force (RTF) on suspicion searched a package that arrived at a courier service in Colombo and found over 30 kilos of Hashish in it. Customs Spokesman Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda said the narcotics parcel had been consigned to an address in the Matugama area.

The seized drugs along with one suspect had been handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
