The naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the sea until further notice due to a depression in the south-east Bay of Bengal and as the area will gradually develop into a cyclonic storm today, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department said.
They said that the cyclonic storm is likely to move north-northeastward towards the Bangladesh and Myanmar coasts.
Due to this system, wind speeds will increase up to 70 kmph in sea areas bounded by (02N–15N) and (85E–100E). Thundershowers and very rough seas can also be expected in above-sea areas.
Those who are out in the aforementioned sea regions are advised to return to the coasts or move to safer areas immediately, the Early Warning Centre warned.
Further, the fishing and naval communities are requested to be attentive to future forecasts issued by the Meteorology Department in this regard.
