Daily Mirror lead story yields Hakeem flays officials for not streamlining visa processing

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader MP Rauff Hakeem referred to Daily Mirror lead news story headlined ‘SL IMMIGRATION HANDICAPPED IN ON- ARRIVAL VISA PROCESSING’, criticised the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration and the Secretary to the Public Security Ministry for alleged sabotaging of visa processing.   


 Making his remarks during a debate in the House, he chastised the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, holding him responsible and the Ministry of Law and Order officials for the deliberate delay in migrating to the Electronic Travel Platform previously run by Mobitel in keeping with the SC interim order.   


 He made reference to a letter addressed to Harsha Ilukpitiya, Controller General and Copied to the Attorney General and warned that as Respondents in the Cases filed by him and several others including the stakeholders of the travel trade who have collectively signed the letter severe consequences will flow if they continue with their deliberate disregard for the order of court.
