Decision taken to settle Esala Perahera electricity bill

A decision was taken to reduce the estimated bill for the electricity supply to the Esala Perahera after considering certain facts, Sri Dalada Maligawa Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said.   


He told the Daily Mirror that a discussion relating to the incident was held yesterday at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.   


Accordingly, a decision was taken by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in Kandy to reduce the electricity charges by limiting their employee overtime charges and to re-issue another estimated bill.   


On receiving the new estimated bill,  the President will be informed and the bill settled according to the provisions of the Pilgrimage Act.    Following a discussion with the President and according to the Pilgrimage Act, a commission will be allocated under the provision of providing public facilities.   


The Ceylon Electricity Board had earlier informed the Dalada Maligawa to pay an estimated bill of Rs 13.2 million for electricity usage for the annual Esala Perahera festival.
