Delta variant is growing threat to unvaccinated people: Expert

• Poses a major threat to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people,
• Sri Lanka not out of the woods yet. Thus, it is vital to strictly follow health  guidelines and practices

Delta variant, the most transmissible variant poses a major threat to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people, Dr Chandima Jeewandara, the Director at Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenapura said.   

In a Twitter message, he raised the importance to adhere to mitigating measures until a significant percentage is fully vaccinated.   “Sri Lanka is not out of the woods yet. Thus, it is vital to strictly follow health guidelines and practices. The threat is not over yet,” he said.
