Wijesuriya.  Speaking to Daily Mirror, he said the country would see a major increase in cases in coming weeks as well as rainy condition was expected to intensify further.  “We have already noticed a rapid increase in cases among which the majority of cases are from the Colombo and Gampaha districts,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Dr Wijesuriya who is also the Director at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) said a total of 45 children are currently undergoing treatment for dengue at the LRH.
“Majority of children are between the ages 05 to 14. Besides, there are also children being treated for severe dengue known as dengue hemorrhagic fever,” he added.
