Dengue cases in SL cross 80,000 mark

• 3,700 cases in 10 days

The tally of dengue cases recorded so far in 2023 has surpassed the 80,000 mark, according to the Epidemiology Unit.  As of December 10, a total of 80,192 cases have been reported in 2023, with the highest number being from the Colombo district, which stood at 16,944.

The Western Province has recorded 37,211 cases, the highest province-wise, while the month of December has also logged 3,704 Dengue cases.

Health officials urge people to keep their surroundings clean and destroy mosquito breeding places in order to keep dengue at bay.
