Dr. Sumithra Peiris no more

Veteran filmmaker and spouse of late Lester James Peiris Kala Keerthi Sumithra Peiris (88) passed away last morning. Family sources confirmed that she was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo at the time of her demise. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena informed Parliament of her death and expressed condolences yesterday.   

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake also joined in expressing their condolences on the passing away of the veteran film industrialist.
