Dress code circular doesn’t apply for teachers: Public Adm. Secy.

  • Public administration circulars were not legally entitled to any schools whatsoever

The circular issued allowing government offices to report to work in an easy and decent dress is not applicable to school teachers, the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry said.  

Ministry Secretary Priyantha Mayadunne said that the circular does not apply to persons who are engaged in other services.  


In response to the comments shared by several parties about the circular, Mayadunne said the Education Ministry should announce its decision on wearing comfortable clothes to school.  
Therefore, the public administration circulars were not legally entitled to any schools whatsoever.  


He further said that the circular clearly states that the dress code is only applicable to office workers.
