Easter Sunday’s attack SF calls for imprisonment of former President

Former President Maithripala Sirisena must accept total blame for the Easter Sunday attacks, MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said. 

He added that the former President must face a more severe punishment, as compensation cannot do justice to the victims and the country.  

The Supreme Court ordered former President Sirisena to pay compensation to victims of the 2019 Easter bombings.   The verdict by a seven-member bench headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya came on a plea against  former President Sirisena and other senior state officials for “failing to prevent” the April 2019 bombings “despite receiving intelligence ahead of the attack.”
