A leading member of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization, who was arrested in Australia, had close contacts with one of the main suspects of the Easter Sunday terror attack in Sri Lanka, the Australian government had informed Sri Lanka.
The Terrorist Investigations Unit informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate that during the interrogation of the Al-Qaeda member, who is a Maldivian national, He had admitted that he had connections with Mohammad Ibrahim Sadiq Abdullah Haq, who is the main suspect in the Easter Sunday terror attack in this country.
The TID’s submission to the Court also revealed that the main suspect Abdullah Haq, who is currently under custody at the Boossa center, had received training from Al-Qaeda while he was in Maldives.
