Elderly man pinned under a boulder that rolled down a hill

A 78 year old man died yesterday after being pinned under a boulder that rolled down a hill and fell on his house in Galle. 

He was identified as Amarasena Wijesinghe of Upper Dickson road in Weliwatta, Galle.  

His wife and son who were the other occupants of the house said that he was lying on his bed when a boulder had rolled down the hill went through the house and pinned the man under it.   
Residents of the area had evacuated him and rushed him to hospital however he was pronounced dead on admission.   

Galle District Secretary Shantha Weerasinghe, Director of the District Disaster Management Centre Lt.Col. Ravindra Liyanage and a senior official of the National Building and Reseach Organisation E.R.Bandula visited the scene and carried out an inspection of the location.
