Elephant calf injured by “Hakka Patas” cared for by villagers

An elephant calf that received serious injuries in a “ Hakka Patas” explosion had roamed into a home garden in Mahamweddegama in Navagatthegama in the early hours of last morning apparently seeking help.   

Wildlife conservators who rushed to the scene had taken action step to provide treatment to the calf. They said calf from Thabbowa national park would have roamed into the village when injured.Wildlife Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Isuru Kottegoda said the calf was about five years old and that it had received severe injuries.
