Eppawala child kidnapping Suspects remanded till January 4

The main suspect and another person, arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a nine-year-old boy of Kiralogama, Eppawala were produced before Thambuttegama Magistrate M.L. Nuwan Kaushalya Saturday evening (24) and were remanded till January 04, 2023. The suspects were produced before the Magistrate at his official residence by the Eppawala Police.

The two suspects remanded were Asweddumage Asela Priyantha (45) of Kekirawa, who had allegedly kidnapped the child, and Amila Sampath Kumara Nanayakkara (42) of Johnsland Estate, an employee of Rikillagaskada Urban Council, who aided and abetted the main suspects who are still at large.


The child was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching hospital for medical examination and treatment.


OIC Crime Investigation Branch SI S.W.P.R. Jayampathi, Sergeant 3694 I.G. Irugal, PCs 67338 Jayasinghe, and 68606 Eranga conducted investigations on the instructions of OIC Eppawala Police E.I.S. Ekanayaka and arrested the suspects.
