Arts Forum members which comprises teledrama and film actors told media that the country had achieved some kind of stability under the present regime and that it is essential to maintain it to achieve greater heights.
“ We see some kind of stability in the country at the moment but it is essential to maintain it so that much more could be achieved for the sake of the future

generations.,” teledrama actor Senaka Wijesinghesaid.

Rajitha Hiran who played the character of ‘Ping Pong’ in a popular teledrama few years ago said he has decided to back incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe this time as the latter managed to curb a fear and violence which struck the nation from May 9 2022. “I together with some of my colleagues backed former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2005 as I thought he should rule the nation to see the end of the war. I supported him again in 2010 as I was of the opinion that Mr. Rajapaksa should be given an opportunity to build up the economy. However my thinking now is that Mr. Wickremesinghe should be the President as he managed to deliver the nation from a violent crisis in 2022,” he said.

Artiste Arjuna Kamalanath stressed the need for assisting artistes and some scheme to empower the artistes when they grow old. “There are some artistes who are sick and cannot afford to pay for their medical treatment. We therefore appeal to authorities to create an artiste’s ward either in Colombo National Hospital or at the Kalubowila Hospital.
