Driver suspected of phone use

In response to a tragic incident in Kandy, where a father and his son were fatally hit by a driver allegedly on a phone call, the police are taking strict measures against drivers who use their phones while at the wheel.  

The driver, who is a politician and the organizer for Hewaheta electorate, is currently under investigation for using a cell phone while driving. He has been remanded until May 25 by the Kandy Magistrate.  


The 37-year-old father passed away on the day of the accident, while his 10-year-old son succumbed to his injuries the following day.  


Police sources reveal that professionals, politicians, and company canvassers are among the main offenders of cell phone use while driving. The Kandy Police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.
